Rental Terms
This page sets out, in plain English, the main conditions that apply when you hire a car with Zuzu Rent A Car. Reading it before you book means no surprises at the desk. The binding terms are those in the rental agreement you sign when you collect the car.
Last updated: 6 October 2026
General Provisions and Scope
These terms apply to the car hire service provided by [Company Name] under the Zuzu Rent A Car brand in Trabzon and Istanbul. Every booking made through our website, by phone or at one of our offices is subject to the rules on this page. The information here is intended to help you prepare in advance; if there is any difference between this page and the rental agreement you sign on collection, the rental agreement takes precedence.
By completing a booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms. We may update them as our service develops or to reflect changes under the legislation in force. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top. Existing bookings are governed by the terms in effect on the date the booking was made.
Driver Requirements
For a safe rental, everyone who drives the car must meet certain age and licence requirements. These vary by vehicle class and are also shown on each car's page. We are unable to hand over a car to a driver who does not meet them, so please make sure the driver details you enter when booking are accurate.
Age and Licence Held
- Economy class (Renault Clio, Renault Taliant, Dacia Sandero or similar): the driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a full driving licence for at least 1 year.
- Mid-size, SUV and family classes (Renault Duster, Chery Tiggo 7, Citroën Berlingo, Opel Zafira or similar): the driver must be at least 23 years old and have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years.
- The period a licence has been held is counted from the date it was first issued.
Additional Drivers
If someone else will also drive the car, they must be registered as an additional driver, either when you book or at collection. Additional drivers must meet exactly the same age and licence requirements as the main driver for the class you have hired, and show their own ID and driving licence. If a person not named on the agreement drives the car, insurance and protection cover may be affected, and the hirer is responsible for any consequences. The additional driver option carries a charge, which is shown during booking.
Documents You Will Need
When you collect the car, we need to verify your identity and your entitlement to drive. Please bring the originals of the documents below; photocopies and screenshots cannot be accepted. If any document is missing, we may be unable to release the car, and the booking will then be treated under our cancellation terms.
- Proof of identity: a Turkish national ID card for citizens of Türkiye, or a valid passport for international guests.
- A valid driving licence: in date and covering the class of vehicle you are hiring.
- A credit card: in the main driver's own name, with enough available limit for the deposit pre-authorisation.
The credit card must be in the driver's name so that the deposit can be handled securely and with the right person. We cannot take a deposit on a card belonging to someone else. Whether a licence issued abroad is valid in Türkiye is assessed under the legislation in force; if you are unsure, please contact us at [email protected] before you book.
Booking, Payment and Vehicle Class
You can complete your booking on our website in a few simple steps. Once you have chosen your pick-up and return locations, dates and times, you select a suitable vehicle class and any extras you would like. You do not need an account to book; however, if you sign up, you can see all your bookings in one place and book again without re-entering your details.
Payment is taken online by credit or debit card, using 3D Secure authentication. Payments are processed through the infrastructure of a licensed payment institution, and your card details are not stored on our website. The booking summary shows the rental price, any extras you have chosen and any one-way fee separately, so please check these amounts before you pay.
What Does "Or Similar" Mean?
A booking reserves a vehicle class rather than a specific model. The models shown on the website are examples of that class; on collection, you may be given an equivalent car from the same class with similar equipment and capacity. In the exceptional event that no car in your class is available, we will offer you one from the same or a higher class.
Collecting and Returning the Car
You can collect and return your car at Trabzon Airport, Trabzon City Centre (Meydan), Istanbul Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Istanbul City Centre (our Kadıköy office) and Istanbul Bus Station. Arriving at the time stated in your booking helps keep things moving quickly. If your flight or journey is delayed, simply let our team know in advance.
At collection, you and our representative inspect the car together and record any existing scratches, dents or similar marks on the handover form. The fuel level and mileage are noted on the same form. If you spot any damage that has not been recorded, please tell us before you drive away. The same inspection takes place on return, and the rental is closed by comparing the two forms.
Returning to a Different Location (One-Way)
If you would like to return the car to a different location from where you collected it, please select this when booking. One-way rentals carry an extra charge, which is clearly shown in the booking summary before you pay. Returning the car to a location not stated in the booking may lead to an additional charge under the terms of the rental agreement.
Late Return
You are expected to return the car on the date and at the time stated in the agreement. If you need to keep it longer, please get in touch beforehand to request an extension, subject to availability. Late returns without prior notice may result in additional rental charges as set out in the rental agreement.
Deposit (Pre-Authorisation)
At the start of the rental, a deposit pre-authorisation is placed on a credit card in the driver's name. A pre-authorisation is not a charge: the money is not taken from your card, but a temporary hold is placed on part of your available limit. The deposit amount depends on the vehicle class and is shown on each car's page, so please make sure your card limit covers both the rental price and this amount.
Once the car has been returned in line with the agreement, the hold is released. How long it takes for the release to show on your card depends on your bank's processing times. Certain items arising during the rental and defined in the agreement may be covered from the deposit:
- In the event of damage, the damage excess stated in the agreement;
- The cost of any fuel missing compared with the level at collection;
- Traffic fines, bridge and motorway tolls incurred during the rental period;
- Excess mileage charges if the daily mileage limit is exceeded.
Fuel Policy and Mileage Limit
Fuel
Our cars are hired on a "same-to-same" fuel basis. Whatever fuel level the car has when you collect it, it should be returned at the same level, which is recorded on the handover form. If the car comes back with less fuel, the shortfall is invoiced at the rate stated in the rental agreement. The easiest way to avoid extra costs is to fill up at a station close to the return location; the fuel type is shown on the car's page and on the handover form.
Mileage
Each car's daily mileage limit is shown clearly on its page. The limit is calculated across the whole rental period. If your total mileage goes over the limit, the excess mileage charge stated in the agreement applies to each additional kilometre. If you are planning a long journey, keeping the mileage limit in mind when you choose a car will help you plan your costs more accurately.
Insurance, Damage and Extra Protection
Every car in our fleet comes with compulsory motor third-party insurance and comprehensive (kasko) cover. These protect both you and third parties if something unexpected happens. Comprehensive cover does, however, include a damage excess: in the event of damage, the hirer covers the cost up to a set amount. The excess and the details of what is covered are set out in the rental agreement.
If you would like to reduce your liability, you can add extra protection when booking:
- Minor damage cover: reduces the hirer's liability for small-scale damage, in line with the terms of the agreement.
- Tyre, glass and headlight cover: extra protection for these parts, where the excess most often comes into play.
If you are involved in an accident or the car is damaged, move to a safe place, contact the authorities where necessary, make sure an accident report or the relevant official report is completed, and let us know without delay. Insurance and protection may not apply in cases such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the car being driven by someone not named on the agreement, or serious breaches of traffic rules; in such cases, the hirer is responsible for any resulting loss.
Traffic Fines, Tolls and Rules of Use
Any traffic fines, bridge and motorway tolls relating to the car during the rental period are the hirer's responsibility. These notices usually reach us after the rental has ended; the amounts are passed on to you as set out in the agreement or may be covered from the deposit. If you would rather not deal with tolls yourself, you can add the toll (HGS) package when booking.
We ask that you look after the car and use it for its intended purpose. The following rules matter both for your safety and for the condition of the car:
- The car may not be taken outside Türkiye without our written permission.
- The car may not be used for carrying paying passengers or goods commercially, for racing or test drives, or for towing another vehicle.
- The car may not be lent or handed over to anyone not named on the agreement.
- Smoking is not permitted in the car, and it should be returned in a clean condition; excessive dirt may incur a cleaning charge under the agreement.
- If a warning light comes on, please contact us before continuing to drive.
Extras
To make your trip more comfortable, you can choose from a range of extras when booking. Prices and conditions for each extra are shown during booking and added to your total. As equipment is subject to availability, it is a good idea to request what you need at the time of booking, especially during busy periods.
- Additional driver: so that more than one person can drive the car.
- Baby and child seats: for your youngest passengers to travel safely.
- Sat nav: for easy navigation in an unfamiliar city.
- Minor damage cover and tyre, glass and headlight cover: to reduce your liability for damage.
- Toll (HGS) package: so you need not worry about bridge and motorway tolls.
Cancellations and Amendments
If your plans change, you can cancel or amend your booking. Cancellations made up to 48 hours before the pick-up time are free of charge, and the full amount you paid is refunded. For cancellations made less than 48 hours before pick-up, or if the car is not collected at the booked time, one day's rental charge may be retained.
Refunds are made to the card used for payment. How long it takes for the refund to appear in your account depends on your bank. Requests to change dates, times or vehicle class are handled subject to availability; if a change results in a price difference, we will let you know before the change is confirmed. For full details, please see our Cancellation, Refund and Amendment page.
